2021 Hyundai Kona

The first model on the list is the upcoming 2021 Hyundai Kona. We won’t be seeing new-gen Kona but mid-cycle refreshments are more than welcome at this moment. After all, Kona is present since 2018 so it is a relatively fresh model. So far, we have seen spy shots that are strongly suggesting a facelift. As a result, Kona will look sleeker than before. Moreover, Hyundai will provide new exterior paints and much more. A similar story continues on the inside. The interior is about to gain further updates, mostly high-tech amenities. A new and larger 8-inch display is still quite a mystery. However, Kona will once again provide a high level of comfort and a quiet cabin.

The 2021 Kona will offer two engine options. A smaller 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 139 hp and 196 lb-ft of torque. This engine will provide 26 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The loading AWD system will slightly lower the fuel economy figures. The second engine option is a reliable and larger 2.0-liter four-cylinder displacement. It packs more power, 147 horses and 123 lb-ft of twisting power. The optional engine provides similar fuel efficiency figures, 26 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Hyundai offers a 7-speed automatic CVT transmission once again. As for the price, a new model will start at $27,000. To compare, Kona Electric will cost closer to $40,000. This SUV will go on sale in the second half of 2020.

The 2021 Ford Escape is one of the SUVs that will deliver impressive fuel efficiency. But first, let’s start from the beginning. New Escape will gain plenty of updates. Blue Oval plans to improve every possible category. For a start, Escape will arrive with another mid-cycle update. Escape will slightly grow in size and its design has been clearly inspired by the Porsche 911. Overall, this SUV looks sharper and more athletic. The interior will get even more space for its five-seat passenger layout. Cargo area is also impressive for this segment and it has been rated at 68.3 cubic feet of space. Ford will deliver more tech and more standard features.

As for the powertrain options, 2021 Escape comes with three choices. However, we will exclude a hybrid powertrain. A 1.5-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine is standard. It generates 180 hp and it delivers 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Escape SUV is fuel-efficient with this engine because the optional drivetrain is all about the power. A 2.0-liter can produce 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, it delivers 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Both variants are available with 8-speed automatic transmission. The price of the new Escape SUV will start at $25,000 and Ford will release it later this year.
