2023 Subaru Outback Gets Minor Updates After a Redesign

The upcoming 2023 Subaru Outback will be on the market this year, and it will have some changes. This popular SUV has a tough look, modern interior design, and a standard AWD setup. Like the previous model, the new one will look more like a station wagon than an actual SUV.

For 2023, we don’t think there will be any major changes to the Outback model, but some of the usual upgrades will happen for sure. Despite changes to the exterior and interior, the Outback will still have the same flat-four-cylinder engines. Like with the previous model, a new one will also offer two powertrain options.

Minor Exterior Upgrades

A complete redesign of the Subaru Outback took place a few months ago. Thanks to that, this SUV is fresh, so there won’t be any big changes. From what we’ve learned, the 2023 Subaru Outback will arrive with a front fascia that looks a little different, with slimmer headlamps and a sharper grille.

However, the best thing is the new Wildnerness trim. This will make the new model look better than the previous one, and it will have an elevated suspension. The manufacturer also put on bigger all-terrain tires, and the Wildnerness model has a roof rack, more ground clearance, and more gear.

Interior Changes

The next 2023 Subaru Outback will continue to offer a very modern interior. The cabin is similar to the one in the Legacy model, which is very interesting. Both variants are comfortable enough, and even the interior room is more than solid. Subaru will deliver more upright materials than before, which is always good news. Even the base trim level provides a power-adjustable driver’s seat, USB-C ports, two-zone climate control, and heated/ventilated front seats.

On top of that, Outback comes with an optional 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen. As an option, you can also get a heated steering wheel, Wi-Fi, ambient lighting, and much more. Lastly, we also expect to see new driver-assistance aids for improved safety.

Subaru Outback Specs

The new 2023 Subaru Outback will have the same flat-four engines like the one that came before it. The Outback SUV has a 2.5-liter engine that makes 183 horsepower. There is also an option for a more powerful engine. It’s a turbo-four 2.4-liter engine with 260 horsepower.

It will be possible for both engines to be paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). All Subaru Outback models are equipped with an all-wheel-drive setup as a standard feature. In terms of towing capability, the standard drivetrain gets around 2720 pounds, while the optional unit provides almost 3500 pounds of towing capacity.

2023 Subaru Outback Release Date, Price

The biggest upgrade on the 2023 Subaru Outback is the brand-new Wilderness trim level. This new model is said to be more aggressive, offering unique suspension and additional ground clearance. And while the base trim level starts at $28,000,

Outback Wilderness should cost almost $40,000. As for the range-topping trim level, Outback Touring XT will become available for around $44,000 or slightly below that. The sales will begin later in 2022, probably by the end of the summer.
