2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB Will Borrow a Lot of Stuff From the EQA Model

Mercedes’ EQ series of all-electric cars continues its fast expansion with the unveiling of the new EQB compact SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show. While the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB shown in Shanghai is for markets in China, a worldwide edition of the electric SUV will also be built at Mercedes-facility Benz’s in Hungary.

Similar to the GLB-class SUV, the EQB features a roomy cabin with expensive materials. The third row of seats is available, but it’s far from spacious and won’t be comfortable for most adults. We expect to see great performances and extremely modern and sharp exterior design.

Mercedes-Benz EQB Looks Stylish

As with previous EQ models, including the recently announced Mercedes EQS, the EQB has a large fake grille with a unique light strip. The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB also comes with triangular-shaped LED headlights.

Additionally, Mercedes distinguishes the EQB from the GLB with new wheels and a unique rear-end treatment that includes full-width lighting that continues through the rear hatch. This model will probably compete in the compact segment, although its dimensions are not available yet. Anyway, the EQB looks very sharp and handsome.

Elegant Interior Design

The EQB’s interiors, which are nearly identical to those of the GLB-Class, undergo fewer modifications. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, since the GLB model comes with a roomy and pleasant interior. On the other hand, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB will look more futuristic. From what we know, it will be a five-seater, although the third-row will be optional. Everything on the inside will look extremely elegant and premium.

Elegantly finished door panels, plush leather upholstery, and brilliant metal trim all contribute to the EQB’s cabin’s luxury appearance. As with previous EQ models, the EQB’s interior has beautiful rose-gold embellishments.

Driving Range, Power

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB will share the motor and battery with the EQA model. Both are expected to share chassis components with gasoline-powered GLA- and GLB-class SUVs. The EQB250 will be the entry-level variant, coming with a 221-horsepower electric motor and front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive may be available as an option, and a more powerful EQB350 variant may be on offer as well.

The EQA’s 66.5-kWh battery should fit well beneath the EQB’s floor. However, Mercedes may opt for a slightly bigger pack for the EQB’s boxier design. To compete with rivals like the Tesla Model Y or Audi e-Tron, a driving range of at least 200 miles per charge would be required. We’ll learn more once the EQB goes on sale.

2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB Release Date, Price

Prices will be revealed closer to the launch date. However, we anticipate the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB will cost closer to Tesla’s Model Y. If you don’t know, Model Y begins at just under $54,000. We also expect that the EQB’s various trim levels will mirror those of the bigger EQC, although we still wait to hear the pricing details.

We don’t yet know how the EQB will be outfitted or which features will be standard, but we’ll learn more closer to the SUV’s launch. Anyway, EQB will be available in three versions, where the range-topping variant will cost around $70,000.
