The upcoming 2023 Kia Sportage is coming with a complete redesign. Furthermore, this SUV will add more trim levels and a hybrid powertrain. The new look is more polarizing and definitely more distinctive. Still, the appearance is somewhat strange, you either like it or not. The interior will also gain more refinement, including new infotainment and much more.
Under the hood, Sportage SUV will from now on offer a hybrid powertrain. There is also a new trim level in the lineup. Generally, it is a new chapter for the Sportage model, and hopefully, it will be a huge success in the following years.
Kia Sportage Redesign
The 2023 Kia Sportage is getting a redesign. As we said, the new model will gain a more polarizing front fascia. However, the general appearance is a little strange. We like the brand-new boomerang-shaped lights, along with the lower headlights.
The grille is definitely wider, which is a good thing and it looks nice. The rear section is more conservative, but it still features smooth surfaces and new taillights. Overall, the new Sportage is more striking than before. This SUV will slightly grow in size, more precisely, it will be longer, sporting a longer wheelbase as well.
Inside the cabin, the 2023 Kia Sportage will also gain lots of upgrades. There is a new 12.3-inch display, available as standard in the upper trim levels. A digital gauge cluster is also new, along with a new version of the infotainment system. No matter which touchscreen you opt for, the graphics are better and menus are more user-friendly.
Kia will upgrade the upholstery and other materials in the cabin. Thanks to that, the interior is more upright. As before, the base trim level will offer navigation, phone integrations, Bluetooth, and automatic climate control. Lastly, this model will be safer than before, thanks to the inclusion of the most recent driver-assistance aids.
Like any other carmaker, Kia is also investing in clean energy. New 2023 Kia Sportage is getting a hybrid power, at last. For a start, a 2.5-liter gasoline engine will remain standard. It is a four-cylinder unit with 187 horsepower. However, the highlight of the new model is the Sportage Turbo Hybrid version. This model uses a 1.6-liter turbo-four engine with a 44 kW electric motor.
This combination is capable of producing 227 horsepower. Furthermore, a plug-in hybrid model will arrive later. This means the turbocharged engine is no longer available. Another big news is the X-Pro trim level. However, this model will not come with a hybrid drivetrain, unfortunately. And while the hybrid model will deliver over 35 mpg combined, the regular combustion engine gets around 28 mpg.
2023 Kia Sportage Price, Release Date
The price of the new 2023 Kia Sportage will start at $28,000. The new X-Pro model will come later and it will cost closer to $40,000. The most affordable model with a hybrid powertrain will be available for around $30k. The sales will begin later in 2022 and we are waiting to hear more details.
