2023 Hyundai Kona: Redesign, Release Date

The upcoming 2023 Hyundai Kona is a tiny SUV that looks unique and very modern. This model appears compact and appealing, and it will stand out in the segment full of established SUVs. That includes models such as Kia Seltos, Honda HR-V, and many others.

The changes should be significant, so we expect the next-gen Kona redesign. It will also include some interior changes, which will result in better comfort. The Kona model provides numerous engine options, but nothing will change under the hood.

Hyundai Kona Spy Shots

We recently saw the first spy photos of the 2023 Hyundai Kona. On top of that, we also had an opportunity to see renderings based on the same spy shots. It seems like the Kona SUV will slightly grow in size. Furthermore, the exterior redesign will happen, so Kona will look more upright and unique than before.

The spy images are showing a glitzier Kona with more luxury. We also expect to see more standard features. The front fascia will suffer the biggest changes. Therefore, Hyundai will offer a new grille, new LED headlights, and much more. Still, we’ll have to wait for the camouflage to come off.

Interior Changes

Similar treatment will continue inside the 2023 Hyundai Kona. Once again, Kona will be a five-seater SUV. However, the latest dimensional changes should provide additional cabin room. That includes better legroom and a larger cargo area. As of now, cargo volume is rated at 19.2 cubic feet. Hyundai will reportedly install a large 10.25-inch touchscreen.

Furthermore, Kona will receive more standard features, updated infotainment, and optional ambient lighting. The Kona SE trim level is the entry-level model that will offer an 8-inch touchscreen, new phone integrations, and slightly more safety aids. On the other hand, upper trim levels will be more luxurious than ever before.

Engine Options

As previously stated, the new-gen 2023 Hyundai Kona will be available with two engines options. The base model will once again offer a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 147 horsepower. This engine is also available with a CVT automatic transmission and standard FWD system. Of course, the AWD setup is optional once again.

If you want more power, a 1.6-liter turbo-four engine with 195 horsepower is the only choice. This stronger engine powers trim levels such as Kona Limited and Kona N Line. As the base engine, this one also offers an optional AWD configuration. On the other hand, the optional drivetrain is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
