The 2022 Volvo XC40, Sweden’s smallest crossover, will enter the market by the end of this year. Last year, the automaker made major improvements, including the addition of an all-new electric T8 Recharge model to its lineup. Essentially, the upcoming subcompact crossover will undergo minor updates for 2022, retaining the same attractive design, highlighted by Thor’s hammer headlamps and modern grille.
The cabin of the XC40 has room for five persons, making it suitable for small families. The interior is premium, it provides a high level of comfort and plenty of high-tech features. Furthermore, Volvo will add more standard features as well as new interior color schemes. We hope to see a little bit more updates than that, but generally, XC40 will introduce minor changes.
2022 XC40 Gets Mild Redesign
The approaching 2022 Volvo XC40 is a subcompact crossover distinctive design. The XC40 has undergone several minor improvements since its debut. Volvo improved the styling, especially on the front fascia. There are new headlight graphics, and the XC40 front grille is perfectly combined with Thor’s hammer headlamps.
The platform remains, so the dimensions of the new Volvo XC40 will remain intact. Thanks to that, this crossover is so easy to maneuver and to park in tight spaces. Like the outgoing model, a new one comes with a standard front-wheel-drive system and an optional all-wheel drive.
The upcoming 2022 Volvo XC40 is a very modern model with a spacious cabin for five people. The Swedish carmaker provides more elegance and convenience for 2022. The front seats are supportive and the level of comfort is simply great. The rear seats have surprisingly enough room for two occupants. However, the cargo room remains unchanged, with this compact crossover measuring 21 cubic feet behind the second row.
The most recent Volvo XC40 is still technologically advanced, but it falls short of its bigger sibling, the XC90. It includes a 9-inch touchscreen option, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an 8-speaker sound setup, numerous USB ports, and Bluetooth. Of course, if you want more luxury, upper trim levels are very premium.
XC40 and XC40 Recharge Specs
The 2022 Volvo XC40 is once again available with the same engine lineup. The entry-level T4 variant comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, developing 188 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, all-wheel-drive is standard in the T5 variant.
On the other hand, both models are using 8-speed automatic transmission. The T8 Recharge is the most popular variant. It is an all-electric version and it comes with pair of 150-kilowatt electric motors. Furthermore, XC40 Recharge is available with a larger 78-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This version will deliver 402 horses and 485 lb-ft of twisting power. Finally, Volvo says the T8 model provides 208 miles of driving range on a single charge.
