New 2022 Porsche Macan is on its way. The last time this SUV got some sort of refreshment was in 2018. Now, a new facelift will help Macan to rival Jaguar F-Pace and Mercedes-Benz GLC models. Macan is present since 2014 and it is the brand’s best-selling model. However, the next-gen Macan is just around the corner. New generation will feature an all-electric powertrain. Porsche clearly doesn’t want to lose sales so the current generation will live for a few years more.
The spy shots are available and some upgrades are visible at first glance. Yes, the 911 model is what everyone wants, but it is the Macan SUV that sells best. This model was refreshed two times so far and the approaching model will share underpinnings with Audi Q5. As we said, Macan EV is also in the works and Porsche will soon ditch conventional engine options.
2022 Macan Spy Shots
The 2022 Porsche Macan has been spied in Germany recently. Heavy camouflage clearly indicates that some changes are significant. And while we can’t see new exterior features, some experts believe the bumpers are chiseled to better align with the Cayenne’s design.
Not surprisingly, Macan and Cayenne will share a lot of things. However, the new Macan will get an improved headlight graphic, new side skirts, and a liftgate-mounted spoiler. We expect new exterior paints and Porsche will surely introduce new optional wheels and much more.
Even some of the interior updates are visible on these spy shots. The 2022 Porsche Macan will be improved, especially in terms of the infotainment system. According to Porsche, the new Macan will be more technically updated so it can compete with other models with the latest systems. That also includes numerous driving-assistance aids as well.
Knowing that, the 2022 Macan will get improved safety but most of the new features will be optional. We don’t know if the rest of the cabin will significantly change. The spy photos are showing the same interior design, with the same layout, displays, and even upholstery.
Macan Turbo and Macan EV Specs
As far as the engine lineup is concerned, nothing will change. The upcoming 2022 Porsche Macan will continue to offer the same powertrain options. The entry-level engine is four-cylinder gasoline that generates 241 hp. On the other hand, the range-topping Macan Turbo comes with a six-cylinder 2.9-liter engine with 434 horsepower. Interestingly, the first engine is from the Volkswagen Group and the optional unit is present in the new Audi RS4 Avant.
The all-electric powertrain will completely change this SUV. Whatsoever, there is a good chance for Porsche to ditch all combustion engines in the next two or three years. The Macan EV will deploy a PPE platform and it will deliver around 300 miles of fully electric range on a single charge. However, the exact specs are not available yet.
2022 Porsche Macan Release Date, Price
The next-gen 2022 Porsche Macan could arrive later in 2021. However, the latest reports are suggesting the first quarter of 2022 as the most probable launch date. As we said, Porsche will introduce the all-electric Macan as well. The price of the entry-level model starts at around $70,000.
