2022 Nissan Kicks Gets More Equipment

The 2022 Nissan Kicks is still a mystery as we don’t know that much about its future upgrades. Kicks, or “Kikkusu” in Japan is a subcompact crossover based on the concept with the same name. This model is present since 2016 and it is a good-selling nameplate at the moment. Nissan plans to deliver various changes in the future, but we’d predict mid-cycle refreshments rather than complete exterior revamp.

The same is with the interior design as Nissan will provide a couple of technology updates and some new features. The performances won’t change so the price should also remain. On the other hand, we hope that Nissan will surprise us with some novelties.

2022 Kicks Facelift

As we said, new 2022 Nissan Kicks will arrive with mid-cycle facelift. Thanks to that, this subcompact crossover will wear a more premium design. The front fascia will offer larger grille and the lower fascia definitely looks more expressive. The headlights are thinner, which is another modern change. The rear section comes with new bumper and improved taillights.

As before, LED light bar will be in the offer. Hopefully, Nissan will offer new exterior colors or new optional wheels. At this moment, this is all we know about new Kicks model. More details will become available in the coming months.

Interior Changes

The Japanese manufacturer will once again offer two rows of seats and a room for five passengers. The 2022 Nissan Kicks won’t change dimensionally. The interior room is limited, but comfort is pleasing. Current model comes with a new 8-inch infotainment display and redesigned center console. Thanks to that, the 2022MY will probably arrive with minor updates.

We expect to see more standard equipment and more driver-assistance. The base trim comes with a smaller 7-inch touchscreen, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are offered as standard. According to some reports, Kicks will borrow a couple of things from the brand-new Nissan Ariya.

e-Power System Available

The engine lineup is another mystery. However, new 2022 Nissan Kicks will probably deliver the same powertrain options. The platform is the same so Kicks remains a front-wheel-drive crossover. A 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine generates 122 hp and it comes with the CVT automatic transmission. Kicks will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 10.4 seconds.

In some other countries, Kicks comes with a smaller 1.2-liter three-cylinder unit. It is a part of Nissan’s e-Power hybrid setup that provide 127 horsepower. Changes are unlikely to happen, even under the skin. However, don’t be surprised if Nissan delivers improved fuel efficiency.

2022 Nissan Kicks Release Date, Price

In terms of price, the 2022 Nissan Kicks should arrive with the same price sticker. Current model starts at $20,000, which is an affordable price in our opinion. Nissan is yet to announce all of the changes, if something significant change, then the price will be slightly higher. As before, Kicks will continue to rival other subcompact crossovers such as Toyota C-HR and Honda HR-V. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021.
