Despite the fact that many of its competitors are embracing bolder style, the 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross stands out in the compact-SUV segment for its athletic stance. However, performances are not as hot as the SUV’s exterior design and sporty vibe. All trim levels are using the same 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 152 horsepower.
This engine delivers solid acceleration, but the Eclipse Cross’s chassis does give a smooth ride. The interior of the Cross is large for passengers and goods, but the cabin lacks some premium touches that segment leaders are offering right now. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know.
2022 Eclipse Cross Interior Upgrades
Given the price, the cabin of the 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a nice place to be. We were pleased by the lack of cheap materials, for starters. While the cushioning was more than enough, the lack of lumbar support is what we don’t like about this model.
The Eclipse Cross has ample cargo room for a small family, but with more than three people on board, the cubby cargo area becomes limited. You can fit up to six suitcases behind the back seats, and 17 suitcases with the rear seats folded flat. As for the technology on the inside, Eclipse Cross offers a standard 7-inch display. The LE, SE, and SEL trim levels are using the larger 8-inch unit.
Turbo-Four Engine Specs
The upcoming 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is using a reliable 1.5-liter turbo-four engine. This unit is capable of producing up to 152 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. As we said, this engine is not as powerful as the SUV’s design might suggest. Still, the ride is comfortable and smooth CVT automatic transmission is in use, which is great.
Taking corners at speed is not an issue so the ride quality is like in the Kia Sportage or Ford Escape. What we also like about this model is its fuel efficiency. The Eclipse Cross provides 26 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The AWD system is optional and it slightly lowers the fuel economy figures.
After missing the 2021MY, Mitsubishi has given the Eclipse Cross a stylistic refresh for 2022. The all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross now comes with updated front and rear fascias. The unusual split-back window style of earlier model years has been replaced by a sleeker-looking liftgate.
The revised front and back bumpers extended 5.5 inches to the total length of the Eclipse Cross. We think the Eclipse Cross model looks very modern and sporty. New model will be larger, but that won’t affect SUV’s athletic stance.
2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Price, Release Date
The base price of the 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will start at around $24,500. The LE trim level is available for $26,000 and SE for 27,500. The range-topping SEL variant will cost $28,500. The sales of the new Eclipse Cross will begin by the end of the year. However, we don’t know the exact launch date at the moment.
