The upcoming 2022 Ford Escape is ready for additional improvements. Escape is one of Ford’s most stylish and best-selling SUVs. New model will gain various cosmetic upgrades. Moreover, the interior will arrive with more tech and more standard equipment. As for the performances, things should remain intact.
However, Escape comes with four powertrain options, including both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. The Escape model is present since 2000 and it is one of the most reliable models in its segment. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021 and the price should slightly increase.
2022 Escape Facelift
No matter which trim level you opt for, the 2022 Ford Escape will look very nice and modern. It is a durable crossover SUV that comes with a stylish appearance and very nice shape. Dimensions won’t change, but some other things will.
The front fascia comes with a slightly larger grille, while the headlights are finished in the same shape as before. We think the front section looks unique and it is a recognizable Ford’s design language. The grille will also sit lower than before and the rear part will get a sportier look thanks to the refreshed bumper.
Interior Updates
On the inside, the 2022 Ford Escape will introduce more major updates. For a start, this crossover will remain as spacious and modern model as the current version. However, the 2022 Escape will provide a higher level of comfort thanks to additional high-quality materials. The plastic materials are still there but Ford reduced the use of cheap-looking stuff. The cloth seat upholstery remains standard, but upper trim levels will offer new faux-leather seats.
Technology is better as well and the new Escape will introduce the latest driver-assistance features. We’d recommend you to skip the base trim level and go for the SE model. This variant comes with a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen and more standard features. Still, the range-topping Titanium trim is very premium. The Escape Titanium provides a 10-speaker B&O sound system and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.
Four Engine Options, Including Hybrid
As we said, things under the hood should remain intact. That means the 2022 Ford Escape will offer four different powertrain options. The entry-level Escape comes with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine that delivers 181 horsepower. The customer can choose between standard FWD and optional AWD. Moreover, Escape will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds with this engine option. A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine is optional and it generates 250 hp.
With this engine, Escape accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Both units are gasoline and both units are using the same eight-speed automatic transmission. The most popular option for the Escape crossover will be its plug-in hybrid variant with 221 hp and significantly improved fuel efficiency.
2022 Ford Escape Release Date and Price
The forthcoming 2022 Ford Escape is improved so its price will now start at around $26,500. It is a small jump in price but Escape will remain an affordable model that rivals Nissan Rogue and Mazda CX-5 models. Blue Oval manufacturer will launch a new Escape in the second half of 2021.
