2021 Toyota Sequoia Gets Full Redesign

The all-new 2021 Toyota Sequoia is coming to the markets with a redesign. The upcoming full-size SUV will keep its recognizable characteristic, but some new things are on the way. The interior will as spacious as before. But further design changes will change this SUV for the better. New Sequoia will once again offer the great off-road ability and generally, superb performances.

The Japanese manufacturer worked on ways to improve the modernity of the cabin so expect new high-tech features. Sequoia is perfect for bigger families but if you want something wilder, its TRD trim levels are exactly what you need. Lastly, a hybrid powertrain is rumored which we think it won’t happen in the next year or two. Here’s what we know so far about arriving 2021 Sequoia.

2021 Sequoia Redesign

From what we know, Japanese automaker won’t change current platform. The upcoming 2021 Toyota Sequoia will remain in terms of shape and dimensions. However, the full-size SUV will suffer a complete exterior redesign. For a start, a new model will feature different LED headlights and daytime running lights. The fog lights are also brand-new and are looking more unique than ever before.

The grille will also get more drastic refinements. Overall, front fascia comes with more chrome accents. In the back, the rear bumper looks more aggressive and newly-shaped taillights are looking gorgeous. New black panels and larger moonroof are completing the list of upgrades.

Interior Overhaul

The upcoming 2021 Toyota Sequoia will offer new interior design. It is important to say that the interior layout and seating capacity won’t change. However, the cabin will gain fresh design and there will be room for eight passengers across the three rows of seats. As we said, dimensions are unchanged so the interior room remains the same. As for the novelties, Sequoia will offer a new dashboard and small changes on the instrument cluster.

New moonroof looks amazing and you can expect additional high-tech features. However, most of the new amenities are optional on the base model. Still, the list of standard equipment is slightly longer than before. Sequoia is a perfect SUV for larger families and longer trips so expect a slightly higher level of comfort as well.

Powerful V8 Remains

Unfortunately, things under the hood are the same. The 2021 Toyota Sequoia will continue to roll on its V8 gasoline engine. It is a reliable 5.7-liter engine with 381 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Full-size SUV comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel-drive configuration. All-wheel-drive setup is optional on the entry-level models.

Moreover, Toyota is offering a variable valve timing system. This engine is powerful but its fuel efficiency has been rated at only 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway. It is the biggest issue and hybrid powertrain is more than needed. However, despite all the rumors, hybrid won’t arrive before 2022.

2021 Toyota Sequoia Price and Release Date

As for the price, the redesigned 2021 Toyota Sequoia will now cost slightly over $50,000. On the other hand, the TRD Sport trim level will cost almost $70,000. New Sequoia will arrive later this year and it will offer new Nightshade Edition, along with other Toyota models.
