2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime Will Go On Sale Next Summer

The all-new 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime is coming to the dealerships in Summer 2020. It is the first-ever RAV4 plug-in hybrid ever built. According to the Japanese manufacturer, this model will go 39 miles on electricity. Moreover, it will deliver 302 horses and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

Toyota also offers a 10-year battery warranty, and the price of this crossover starts around $30,000. No doubt, next year will be very exciting for Toyota and its customers across the globe. RAV4 is a popular model, and Prime variant will surely boost sales.

This high-performance variant is available on sportier trim levels such as SE and XSE. The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime SE comes with 18-inch wheels, more distinctive grille, and additional piano-black accents. On top of that, lower front spoiler is new, and it looks impressive. Toyota also provides a power liftgate system.  SE also comes with numerous interior improvements. That includes 8-way power-adjustable driver’s bucket seat and leather upholstery. Moreover, heated front seats are standard, along with the 8-inch infotainment display. On top of that, a 7-inch driver information screen is available.

As for the driving range, this model offers up to 39 all-electric miles on a full charge. The credit goes to a lithium-ion battery pack that also provides 90 MPGe. Of course, Toyota is yet to announce full vehicle’s specifications. At the moment, RAV4 Hybrid delivers 40 mpg combined and 580 miles per tank. Finally, Toyota said that the RAV4 Prime will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds. With these figures, Prime model is second-quickest model in its lineup, behind Toyota Supra.

Sales and Competition

RAV4 model is currently Toyota’s best-selling vehicle. This crossover was sold in 324,622 examples through September 2019. However, “only” 62,881 sold units were hybrid models. Still, that means RAV4 Hybrid beat the previous best-selling Toyota’s Hybrid, iconic Prius. As for the competition, Honda is building its first CR-V hybrid crossover. On top of that, Ford will launch a new Escape in plug-in hybrid form as well.
