Tesla Model Y vs. Ford Mach-E
It is an electric face-off. The upcoming 2021 Tesla Model Y versus recently introduced 2021 Ford Mach-E. Many experts predicted Rivian’s SUV as Tesla’s main competitor. Now, it seems like Ford is the one that will rival a new Model Y. Let’s see what the candidates have to offer.
In terms of size, Mach-E crossover is 186 inches long. On the other hand, Model Y should be around 184.4 inches long as it will use a Model 3 platform. As for the seating capacity, Model Y can accommodate seven passengers while Mach-E only five. We are mostly interested in performance, driving range, charging, and acceleration. For a start, Model Y will deploy 75 kWh battery while Mach-E 98.8 kWh. Interestingly, but both models will provide 300 miles of electric range.
However, Tesla promised 400 horsepower and Ford 332 hp. As for the acceleration, both models are reaching from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Of course, we are talking about the fastest versions. Finally, Ford Mustang Mach-E comes with 150 kW of charging speed and Tesla Model Y 250 kW of charging rate. Clearly, Tesla will provide better performance but not significantly better. On the other hand, Mach-E will be more affordable, and it will provide a more traditional interior.
