According to the latest reports, a new 2021 Tesla Model Y will arrive sooner than we taught. Exactly six months ago, Elon Musk unveiled its plan for delivers that should begin in fall 2020. Today, news about Model Y arrival surprised us all. That means you can expect Tesla’s new electric crossover at the beginning of 2020.
That’s some excellent news for everyone, and this model will go on sale in the very near future. Furthermore, Elon Musk said a lot of positive stuff about the new Ford Mustang Mach-E electric crossover. It is going to be an epic battle and here’s why.
Tesla Model Y vs. Ford Mach-E
It is an electric face-off. The upcoming 2021 Tesla Model Y versus recently introduced 2021 Ford Mach-E. Many experts predicted Rivian’s SUV as Tesla’s main competitor. Now, it seems like Ford is the one that will rival a new Model Y. Let’s see what the candidates have to offer.
In terms of size, Mach-E crossover is 186 inches long. On the other hand, Model Y should be around 184.4 inches long as it will use a Model 3 platform. As for the seating capacity, Model Y can accommodate seven passengers while Mach-E only five. We are mostly interested in performance, driving range, charging, and acceleration. For a start, Model Y will deploy 75 kWh battery while Mach-E 98.8 kWh. Interestingly, but both models will provide 300 miles of electric range.
However, Tesla promised 400 horsepower and Ford 332 hp. As for the acceleration, both models are reaching from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Of course, we are talking about the fastest versions. Finally, Ford Mustang Mach-E comes with 150 kW of charging speed and Tesla Model Y 250 kW of charging rate. Clearly, Tesla will provide better performance but not significantly better. On the other hand, Mach-E will be more affordable, and it will provide a more traditional interior.
The all-electric SUV comes with incredible versatility and safety. The cabin is spacious, and the level of luxury is high. Everything looks very modern, and Tesla is offering a panoramic glass roof that looks spectacular. Unique storage systems and “frunk” are also in the offer. A 15-inch display dominates the interior, and you can hardly compete with that.
The customers can choose between a couple of versions. The standard Range variant starts at $39,000, while the Long Range dual-motor AWD model costs over $50,000. The most expensive model is the Tesla Model Y Performance that is priced at over $60,000. The electric SUV offers a top speed of 150 mph, and it comes with superb handling and driving manners.
Tesla is Releasing Model Y Sooner Than You Think
According to the newest reports, the new 2021 Tesla Model Y will arrive in the first quarter of 2020. This is a huge surprise as the release date has been set for fall 2020. Tesla accelerated the process and is almost a full season ahead of the promised schedule.
Generally, next year will be very interesting, mostly because of the rivalry between Model Y and Mach-E electric crossovers. However, don’t forget about the Rivian and its upcoming R1S model.
