The upcoming 2021 Nissan Ariya is the company’s latest SUV. It is an all-electric model, and it was recently unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. Ariya is basically the bridge between the IMx concept and Nissan Leaf model. This model will be roomier than the X-Trail model, and it will wear the company’s new design language.
Interestingly, Aria is shorter than X-Trail but is wider, and it comes with lower ground clearance. Ariya SUV will ride on a new platform used by Renault and Mitsubishi. The all-new Arya will provide great mileage figures, and the interior will look incredibly modern. Besides its sporty appearance, Ariya will offer a semi-autonomous driving system. It will ride on a dual-motor configuration.
2021 Ariya Exterior Design
As for the exterior design, the new 2021 Nissan Ariya will look both sporty and futuristic. It comes with a wider and lower stance, and it will share the underpinnings with new Renault and Mitsubishi models. The platform can accommodate various shapes and sizes of the battery and electric motors. Ariya will be slightly shorter than the seven-seat Nissan X-Trail.
The styling looks distinctive, and it is the manufacturer’s new design language. LED headlights are blended into the grille and a full-width LED bar is present in the back. Moreover, the 2021 Ariya comes with a raked roofline which provides a coupe-like appearance.
Inside the cabin, a new 2021 Nissan Ariya will feature a very modern design. The new model will arrive with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen that dominates the interior. Interestingly, most of the controls are operated via dials rather than touch. It isn’t modern, but it’s a lot safer. Nissan’s ProPilot active safety system is available, as well. Moreover, Ariya will offer a semi-autonomous driving system.
That means the electric SUV will drive itself within the motorway lane. Automatic climate control, digital personal assistant, and sporty steering wheel are offered as standard. Wireless charging and leather seats will be optional. The new feature is a so-called “pre-cool and pre-heat” system. With this system, you can set the temperature while the car is parked.
Power and Driving Range
The all-electric SUV will use two electric motors for each axle. This will create an intelligent four-wheel-drive system. The 2021 Nissan Ariya will offer excellent driving manners and superb handling. Performance figures are not available yet. However, the IMx concept had over 400 horses and a range of 373 miles.
To compare, Tesla Model X offers 314 miles. According to Nissan, the 2021 Ariya will take five seconds to reach 60 mph. Charging time is another mystery. However, Ariya will surely arrive with the Chademo plug, like the Nissan Leaf model.
