The upcoming 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 is coming with further updates. The arriving subcompact crossover will compete in the luxury segment, and it will slot below a 45 variant. Mercedes is on fire recently, introducing new subcompact models such as A-Class sedan and CLA-Class Coupe. Even the GLB SUV is in the works.
The GLA-Class is joining the lineup, and it will be larger than its predecessor. A potent AMG 35 version will provide improved performances. On top of that, it looks both sporty and stylish. The interior looks stunning, and premium, so new subcompact crossover has everything to offer.
2021 Mercedes GLA 35 Exterior
New 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 will depart from its predecessor in terms of styling. The new model comes with a unique design that departs from the A, GLB or CLA models. Mercedes said the new model would be shorter. However, every other dimension will grow. Furthermore, new upgrades will make AMG GLA 35 version sleeker and more attractive. Curves are better, and we definitely like this shape more than GLB and its boxy appearance.
Whatsoever, GLA variant is taller, and it provides more interior room. This crossover is easy to recognize thanks to its unique radiator grille and special silver chrome trims. Larger wheels are available, ranging from 19 to 21-inch size. The rear part sports aggressive bumper and new diffuser insert. Lastly, GLA 35 crossover comes with two round tailpipes and roof spoiler.
Luxury Interior Design
Like any other brand’s model, new 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 will also benefit from the latest MBUX infotainment system. However, this model offers two 10.25-inch touchscreens, providing infotainment and gauge displays. The screens can be controlled by touch, gesture control or voice command. Moreover, steering will also host various buttons and controls.
This steering wheel comes with a flat bottom wrapped in perforated leather and red contrast stitching. Paddle shifters and integrated drive mode selector are also available. As for the rest of the interior, AMG-style gauges are in the offer, along with new sport bucket seats and stainless steels pedals.
Engine Specs, Transmission, Acceleration
Under the bonnet, new 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine. The same output is available in models such as CLA 35, A35 and GLB 35. It can produce up to 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic Speedshift dual-clutch transmission is available, along with the standard all-wheel-drive system.
This crossover can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in five seconds flat. Further mechanical upgrades include new suspension and a four-link rear axle. The AMG Ride Control system is optional, and it provides better ride quality and higher comfort. New brakes are also available.
2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 Release Date, Price, Competiton
The price of the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 is not available yet. However, the GLA 45 model costs $53,500. That means the GLA 35 will cost slightly below that. Since GLA 35 is a subcompact luxury crossover, competing in the high-performance division, the competition is limited. Let’s say the BMW X3 M235i and Jaguar E-Pace R-Dynamic S are the only rivals. The sales of the new AMG GLA 35 will begin in the last quarter of 2020.
