The upcoming 2021 Land Rover Defender 90 is a two-door SUV that will hit the American dealerships in the coming months. The Defender 90 was a subject of various speculations, but now this model is official. Moreover, a new trim level is available as well.
It is a more rugged X-Dynamic trim that adds numerous exterior modifications and more durable interior materials. The price of the approaching Defender 90 SUV will start at around $47,500. You can order it right now, along with the four-door Defender 110 variant.
2021 Defender 90 Exterior Features
New 2021 Land Rover Defender 90 comes in a two-door body style, which is great to hear. Jeep already offers its two-door Wrangler SUV and Ford will release a two-door Bronco model in the near future. However, Defender 90 is a more luxurious SUV with similar off-road capabilities. Even the exterior design looks more premium, but this is Land Rover after all. So far, we’ve only seen spy photos of the regular Defender four-door model.
However, two models will wear the same design language, so it is easy to predict a new SUV’s design. The side opening will be larger than before, and we can also spot new bumpers and new optional wheels. Moreover, Land Rover announced new X-Dynamic trim level. This version will arrive with a more rugged appearance, gloss-black painted door and skin pans finished in satin.
The forthcoming 2021 Land Rover Defender 90 will also introduce the same updates as the four-door Defender SUV. That includes new high-tech amenities such as a 10-inch touchscreen that comes with a new “Pivi Pro” interface. Moreover, the latest driver-assistance aids are available. The systems such as adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and pedestrian detection are now in the offer.
As for the new X-Dynamic trim, it will offer more durable interior materials. Moreover, this trim is available with specification packages such as S, SE and HSE. Lastly, Land Rover will offer Robustec synthetic seat accents, and there will be room for five or six passengers.
Engine Specs, Trim Levels
The base 2021 Land Rover Defender 90 comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 296 horsepower. The S model is a more premium variant, but it will use the same engine. Moreover, new X-Dynamic trim deploys a larger 3.0-liter inline-six powertrain. This engine is capable of producing 395 hp. Unlike the regular Defender 110, Defender 90 is a shorter model.
Thanks to that, the short-wheelbase variant is a better off-roader. More precisely, Defender 90 is 17.2 inches shorter, it comes with a break-over angle of 32 degrees and is three notches steeper than the regular version.
2021 Land Rover Defender 90 Price and Release Date
As for the price, new 2021 Land Rover Defender 90 will start at $47,500. That is below the $52,000 that you have to pay for the regular Defender 110 model. On the other hand, the range-topping trim level will cost around $84,000. You can order new Defender 90 off-road SUV now, and the sales will begin in the first quarter of 2021.
