Jeep finally released all the details of its new gasoline plug-in hybrid SUV. The upcoming 2021 Jeep Renegade PHEV will go on sale next summer as a model for 2021. Logically, the PHEV version is based on the current gasoline model, and the only major difference is the powertrain. This subcompact SUV will also get a couple of refreshments in terms of exterior design.
The interior is also getting numerous smaller updates. Under the hood, a hybrid version will produce around 240 horsepower. That is significantly more than the standard Renegade version. Besides Renegade crossover-SUV, Jeep will release numerous models at the same time next summer.
2021 Renegade PHEV Exterior Facelift
It’s not a big SUV, but you just can’t miss the new 2021 Jeep Renegade PHEV on the streets. The subcompact crossover-SUV wears a recognizable company’s design, and it looks adorable. You can recognize this model by its rounder headlights and an iconic seven-slot grille. The front fascia will get smaller modifications while the rear part is getting reshaped taillights.
On top of that, new bumpers are in the works, and a new model will look slightly more rugged. Shorter overhangs are another easy-to-recognize styling cue. As we said, the new 2021 Jeep Renegade PHEV will numerous smaller refreshments on the inside. This model will keep its current interior layout. Moreover, even the design is intact. With that in mind, a two-row five-seat layout remains. For a subcompact SUV, cabin space is generous, and the cargo area is rated at 19 cubic feet of space. However, fold the rear seat, and you will get 50 cubic feet of cargo room.
Renegade provides good comfort and a lot of driver-assistance features. Moreover, the new 2021 model will get even higher safety ratings. As for the base model, it offers AM/FM radio, USB ports, telescopic steering wheel and a rearview camera. Upper trims will deliver more premium amenities, leather upholstery and a larger touchscreen.
Plug-In Hybrid Specs
PHEV version is based on the current gasoline-powered model. Visually, the two models are the same. However, the 2021 Jeep Renegade PHEV comes with a rear-mounted 136-hp electric motor. The battery pack provides good mileage, and thanks to that, Renegade can run on pure electric power for 30 miles.
Total output is rated at 240 horsepower, and the credit goes to a combination of a 1.3-liter engine, battery and electric motor. AWD setup is optional, and the new eAWD system allows for torque to be controlled independently. The subcompact SUV sprints from 0 to 60 mph in seven seconds. Moreover, its top speed is rated at 80 mph in electric mode.
2021 Jeep Renegade Price and Release Date
The 2021 Jeep Renegade PHEV and new Jeep Compass are just one of the models that are part of the company’s “e-volution” program. The price will start at around $20,000. Of course, thanks to the numerous trim levels, you can end up paying up to $40,000. Most of the Jeep’s new models, including the 2021 Renegade, will go on sale in summer 2020.
