2021 Jeep Grand Compass: New 7-Seater from the FCA

Interesting reports are coming from a source close to the FCA. The same reports are confirming the arrival of the brand-new 2021 Jeep Grand Compass. After Cherokee SUV, Wagoneer will be the first one to introduce its “Grand” version. Shortly after that, Grand Compass will go on sale as well. The truth is that the Jeep lacked seven-seat SUVs. Instead of making new ones, Jeep will simply create a longer version.

Grand Compass will be the same as the smaller Compass but it will ride on an extended platform and it will offer room for seven passengers. The new model has been codenamed “Low D” in some leaked info. Interestingly, the brand will firstly introduce Grand Compass in Brazil. After that, the sales will start in the USA and globally.

2021 Grand Compass Styling

In terms of design, the new 2021 Jeep Grand Compass won’t depart from the smaller Compass. Both models will get the same upgrades and the only difference is in dimensions. Speaking of that, Jeep will need to extend the platform and Grand Compass will be few inches larger. In terms of design, Grand Compass will introduce a new front bumper and most likely, new headlights.

However, the shape of the headlamps and a seven-slot grille will remain. On the other hand, this grille will sit taller than usual. Jeep also plans to introduce a larger air dam. Basically, if you want to spot a difference, Grand Compass is different from the B-pillar onwards. A longer wheelbase is a must and Compass SUV will get new roofline design.

Interior Offers a Room For Seven Persons

Thanks to the longer dimensions and longer wheelbase, the new 2021 Jeep Grand Compass will offer more interior room. On top of that, Grand Compass will be a seven-seat SUV. Jeep said that even the rear occupants can enjoy ample legroom and the comfort will be on a higher level. Indeed, seven-seat SUVs are usually more premium than the five-seat variants.

That also means we should expect slightly more standard equipment. The SUV will provide around 700 liters of boot capacity, which is great. Unfortunately, we don’t know the exact interior details yet. Grand Compass will be very similar to the standard Compass version so we don’t expect a surprise.

Possible Engines

The most likely candidate for the standard engine will be 1.3-liter MultiAir gasoline. However, this four-cylinder unit is not that powerful and it delivers only 178 hp. The focus is on fuel efficiency that should be great. Moreover, Jeep plans to offer both six-speed manual and nine-speed automatic transmission.

A 3.6-liter V6 is another possible outcome for the new 2021 Jeep Grand Compass. Some other markets will get 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 170 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Even the 1.4-liter turbo gasoline is ready to go on sale on some markets, most likely in Asia.

2021 Jeep Grand Compass Release Date and Price

The all-new 2021 Jeep Grand Compass will hit the dealerships later this year. Interestingly, but Jeep will firstly introduce this SUV in Brazil. After that, the Asian and North American markets will get the same SUV. The price will start slightly below $40,000 for a base trim level.
