2021 Honda Pilot: Redesign is Just a Rumor

The all-new 2021 Honda Pilot is bringing further upgrades. The new model will get some serious changes. Honda is introducing new-gen Pilot every five or six years. That means the next-gen model won’t arrive before 2022. Still, Pilot SUV needs to be upgraded as soon as possible.

For that reason, Honda will release a new model with a couple of significant updates. Even the 2020 model gained a couple of notable improvements. Now, the 2021 Pilot is in the works, and we can’t wait to see the final product.

What’s New?

According to the latest reports, a new 2021 Honda Pilot will get numerous improvements. For a start, this model will arrive with more safety features than ever before. On top of that, the Japanese manufacturer will introduce Black Edition as the range-topping model. Both exterior and interior will obtain essential upgrades, as well. The mid-size SUV will also get a small jump in price, and we’ll get to that later.

Is There a Room For a Redesign?

Currently, no. The 2021 Honda Pilot will get a couple of exterior refreshments. Still, a complete redesign will happen once the new-gen Pilot arrives. That will happen in 2022 or 2023. Until then, the Pilot is ready for mid-cycle refreshments. The three-row SUV will retain its boxy appearance in combination with the crossover-like cues.

The front fascia looks unique and really sharp. New lower LED accents are a possibility for 2021. On top of that, the three-slat horizontal grille will get more chrome trims. The shape of the taillights will also change, but not drastically. The Pilot will also introduce new optional exterior features. That includes further LED technology and larger wheels.

2021 Honda Pilot Black Edition

We said the Black Edition trim level is unique. It is, relatively. Honda introduces this variant this year. It became an instant hit. The 2021 Honda Pilot will also feature the Black Edition. Whatsoever, it is the range-topping trim level. It is based on the Pilot Elite model, and it adds numerous amenities both inside and out. We’ve already seen Ridgeline Black Edition trim level, introduced last year. With this model, you’ll get an exclusive Crystal Black Pearl color.

On top of that, numerous badges, blacked-out features, and 20-inch alloy wheels are available. Unfortunately, Black Edition does not come with performance upgrades. It is an appearance package, basically. The interior gets beautiful red accents on the doors, center console, seats, and dash. Perforated leather is standard, and you will even get new floor mats.

Engine Specifications and New AWD System

Nothing will change under the hood of 2021 Honda Pilot. This mid-size SUV continues to offer its 3.5-liter V6. The reliable powertrain is producing 280 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The front-wheel-drive is being provided as standard. As always before, optional AWD is also available.

Speaking of all-wheel-drive, Honda added an advanced torque vectoring system. The system is known as “iTVM-4” and it should take control of the performances. It allows the vehicle to choose the amount of power of each rear wheel. On top of that, it will provide power between the front and rear axles.

2021 Pilot Price and Release Date

The brand-new 2021 Honda Pilot will cost $32,000. The Elite trim level is priced at $48,500 and a new Black Edition at $50,000. Pilot SUV is available in six trim levels. Still, the base model needs to be equipped with numerous optional amenities. A new mid-size three-row SUV will go on sale in the second half of 2020.
