Next-Generation 2021 Honda HR-V to Debut New Platform

Honda is working on the next-gen HR-V model. This crossover will go on sale later this year. Moreover, the 2021 Honda HR-V will be sold in Japan as the “Vezel” SUV. It will ride on the new Honda’s platform that departs from the exciting architecture of Honda Jazz. New underpinnings are suggesting dimensional changes as well. Whatsoever, new HR-V will be larger than its predecessor.

On top of that, expect a new gasoline engine and even one smaller displacement that will provide incredible fuel efficiency. Next-gen models are always getting an exterior redesign and HR-V is no different. The interior will also receive significant changes. Basically, every part of the 2021 HR-V should be improved.

Exterior Dimensions

The next-gen 2021 Honda HR-V will ride on a new platform, simply called “Honda Architecture.” Unlike the new platform of the Jazz hatchback, HR-V crossover will get more drastic dimensional changes. The new model will measure 172.2 inches in length and 70.2 inches in width. Moreover, this crossover is 63.1 inches tall.

However, different reports in Japan are suggesting 173.2 inches long 2021 HR-V. The current model is 170 inches long so, despite rumors, HR-V should arrive as a longer model. To compare, 2020 HR-V is 69.7 inches wide and 62.2 inches tall. On the other hand, its wheelbase should remain, which is 102.7 inches.

2021 HR-V Redesign

For a start, the brand-new 2021 Honda HR-V will receive a coupe-like design. This became an extremely popular move in the last couple of years. New Engine Options

A month ago, the rumors were saying that there won’t be a new engine option. Now, the story is different. New-generation 2021 Honda HR-V could gain two powertrain options. Just like Honda Fit, HR-V will most likely deploy a new 1.5-liter gasoline engine. This engine will be available as a sole option or in a hybrid variant, combined with two electric motors. On top of that, Honda will introduce a new 1.0-liter three-cylinder unit that will provide great fuel efficiency.

The same output delivers 120 hp and 147 lb-ft of torque. The upcoming HR-V should offer both manual and CVT automatic transmission. We don’t know what will happen with the current 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline that is currently available. This engine generates 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, its fuel economy has been rated at 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.
