The all-new 2021 Ford Expedition will gain numerous changes and upgrades. The full-size SUV already offers great ride quality and a long list of standard features. Moreover, the Expedition MAX variant is also available once again. The return of the FX off-road package is confirmed, and we already wrote about it. The 2021 model should become available in three trim levels.
However, the King Ranch trim level is returning, which is a huge new for the Expedition SUV. Numerous trim levels, packages, and MAX version are providing a great offer to all of the customers. Moreover, you can choose between models with seven or eight seats. Performance-wise, things should largely remain. New 2021 Expedition will go on sale later this year.
2021 Expedition Exterior Facelift
You can expect numerous minor upgrades on the new 2021 Ford Expedition. The platform will remain, so the upcoming model should remain 210 inches long. On the other hand, Expedition MAX is 12 inches longer and 9 inches longer than the Expedition’s 122.5 inches long wheelbase.
As for the exterior changes, Blue Oval should deliver slightly different styling and modified exterior features. Overall, don’t expect drastic visual changes. However, King Ranch will arrive with the new adaptive suspension and larger 22-inch wheels.
Interior Will Get More Features
The forthcoming 2021 Ford Expedition will provide a very roomy interior. You can choose between a seven-seat and eight-seat versions. The interior looks very modern, and Blue Oval offers a long list of standard equipment. Legroom and headroom are very ample, and even the cargo area provides generous space.
The base trim level provides rearview camera, keyless entry, and three-zone climate control. New King Ranch trim level will arrive with soft-touch Del Rio leather upholstery. A new model should gain more chrome accents, reshaped dashboard, and new infotainment system. Moreover, you can expect new driver-assistance features that will be optional.
Engine Specs, Transmission, Hybrid Rumors
The all-new 2021 Ford Expedition will continue to offer its reliable V6 engine. This 3.5-liter powertrain provides 380 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to such a high torque figure, Expedition can tow up to 9,400 pounds. A 10-speed automatic transmission will remain unchanged. Optional 3.0-liter V6 PowerStroke is also available.
This diesel version can produce up to 250 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of twisting power. At this moment, hybrid powertrain won’t happen. That means you can expect some sort of electrification in 2022. Basically, nothing will change under the hood in the next year.
2021 Ford Expedition Price and Release Date
The approaching full-size SUV will surely get a slightly higher price. The current model starts at $53,000, and a new one will become available for $55,000. Expedition MAX costs an additional $3,000, and we are yet to find out the price of the new King Ranch trim level. As we said, Expedition Hybrid will happen, but not in the next one year. Ford will release its new model later in 2020, most likely in the last quarter of 2020.
