The upcoming 2021 Ford Edge should arrive with exciting changes and upgrades. That includes new wheels, new exterior colors, and much more. The interior will gain additional equipment and the latest high-tech features. We think Edge is a great performer, it looks good, and it provides a high level of comfort. It is a two-row crossover that runs on a turbocharged engine.
Moreover, its sportier ST variant is equipped with a twin-turbo V6 powertrain. For 2021, Edge will also gain more luxury, and that includes every trim level that is available. The sales will begin in the coming months, most likely before the end of 2020.
2021 Edge Changes
The all-new 2021 Ford Edge looks like a typical SUV with a modern appearance. Every trim level looks handsome, and it offers exciting exterior features. New Edge will look more rugged, and it will wear new lower black plastic on the lower fascia. That also includes new plastic materials that will serve as a protection. Visually, Edge won’t change that much in 2021.
However, the Blue Oval manufacturer will offer new wheel designs. On top of that, two brand-new gray exterior paints are added to the color palette. All trim levels will feature new acoustic-laminated glass and new rear parking sensors that are standard now. Besides that, the 2021 Edge SUV will remain intact.
As we said, the new 2021 Ford Edge is a two-row SUV with a room for five occupants. However, the upcoming SUV is perfect for four adults. The comfort is admirable and long trips won’t be a problem at all. The Blue Oval offers nice materials, and the cabin looks both nice and modern. Even the cargo area is spacious, and Edge offers more room than most of its competitors.
As for the technology, Edge will introduce a new Sync 4 infotainment system. However, we think you should skip base trim levels and move to the SEL trim. It comes with more USB ports, larger display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For 2021, Edge comes with a standard Wi-Fi hotspot, along with a 12-inch touchscreen. The Edge ST version offers a heated steering wheel and a six-way power-adjustable passenger’s seat.
Engine Specs, MPG, Transmission
The base model comes with the same turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 250 horses. That is more than enough power for most of the customers. However, the 2021 Ford Edge offers another engine option. It is a twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 that is available in the ST variant. This engine is capable of producing 335 horsepower, and an all-wheel-drive system is offered as standard.
We think Edge SUV is a capable performer that comes with great stability and more than solid handling. The regular four-cylinder engine delivers 29 mpg on the highway, while sporty ST trim level is rated at 26 mpg on the highway. A relatively new eight-speed automatic transmission is available once again.
2021 Ford Edge Release Date, Price
The base SE model starts at $33,000. The 2021 Ford Edge SEL is available for $36,000 and an ST model for $45,000. The Blue Oval manufacturer will launch its new SUV later this year, most likely in the last quarter of 2020.
