According to the latest reports, new 2021 Chevy Tahoe is getting a redesigned interior. On top of that, Chevy Suburban will get the same type of upgrades in 2021. Surprisingly, two large SUVs are getting even bigger and will borrow the suspension from the Ford Expedition SUV. This should result in better comfort, a more pleasant ride and much more.
New Tahoe will also gain more legroom, and its cargo area will provide more space. The competition is getting ridiculous, and Jeep also prepares heavy updates for its lineup of SUVs. As for the exterior design, nothing significant will happen. Performance-wise new Tahoe will feature a diesel powertrain, for the first time.
More Interior Room and Exterior Dimensions
The upcoming 2021 Chevy Tahoe will introduce more interior space thanks to the latest dimensional changes. This SUV will grow by 6.7 inches, so the third-row legroom is getting an additional 10.1 inches. On top of that, the cargo area is larger for 10.2 cubic feet. Suburban SUV will get similar changes as well. It is an interesting move from Chevrolet, especially because of the fact that Tahoe is already a large SUV.
However, customers in the United States are really into full-size SUVs, so this move isn’t that surprising after all. Finally, the 2021 Tahoe will be 210.7 inches long and 81 inches wide. Furthermore, its height is rated at 75.9 inches and wheelbase at 120.9 inches.
2021 Tahoe Gets Additional Features
As for the high-tech features, the new 2021 Chevy Tahoe will introduce a couple of them. Both Tahoe and Suburban are getting the same interior treatment and everything starts with a big 10.25-inch touchscreen. On top of that, a pair of 12.6-inch LCD rear screens have been added.
Thanks to that, rear occupants can enjoy in movies or play the content from their smartphones. It is perfect for the kids, and longer trips will now be more enjoyable. Apart from that, Tahoe will get numerous driver-assistance features and the latest infotainment updates.
First Diesel Ever
For the first time, Tahoe SUV will ride on a diesel powertrain. It is a quiet and fuel-efficient 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. Again, both 2021 Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban will feature this engine. Interestingly, the Silverado pickup truck already offers this engine. More importantly, competitors such as Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia or Nissan Armada don’t offer diesel powertrain options.
The best part about this engine is fuel economy rating and towing capacity. Tahoe will largely benefit, no doubt about it. A 3.0-liter Duramax is a turbodiesel engine that delivers 33 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg in the city. It can produce 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. Tahoe should tow up to 9,300 pounds with its new engine.
2021 Chevy Tahoe Price and Release Date
The arriving three-row SUV will be built in Arlington, Texas. Interestingly, this plan builds around 340,000 Tahoes, Yukons, Suburbans, and Escalades per year. And just like the Yukon and Suburban, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe will go on sale in mid-2020. The price will start slightly above $50,000 this time.
