2021 Chevy Suburban Z71 Comes as a Trim Level and Not a Package

The upcoming 2021 Chevy Suburban Z71 should be an instant hit. General Motors recently introduced new Tahoe and Suburban models. Both models are basically all-new, and that includes fresh design and numerous mechanical upgrades. Now, Chevrolet is going one step further with the introduction of the Z71 trim level.

Interestingly, Chevy won’t introduce its Z71 as a package, something no one expected. On the other hand, we are not surprised because we are going to see Z71 treatment on Suburban. It is one of the company’s most popular packages over the year. It adds hardcore off-road characteristics and Suburban seems to be another perfect candidate.

2021 Suburban Z71 Gets Hardcore Exterior Treatment

Chevrolet’s new large SUV looks stylish and robust. Now imagine the Z71 treatment on it, it should look impressive without any doubts. The 2021 Chevy Suburban Z71 is about to gain numerous exterior modifications. For a start, this SUV will get skid plates and unique front fascia. Thanks to that, Suburban will deliver better ground clearance and approach angles. Off-roading will be even easier with the latest addition, grippy all-terrain tires.

The body will also get a lot of monochromatic treatment too. The Z71 package is made for serious off-road adventures, and it is fun to have it. Chevy is about to deliver new Air Ride Adaptive suspension and automated load-levelling. The ride is height-adjustable, and Magnetic Ride Control is optional. Red tow hooks are also in the offer, along with 20-inch wheels.

Interior Shouldn’t Change That Much

From what we know, the interior of the new 2021 Chevy Suburban Z71 won’t suffer a lot of changes. The most significant upgrade will be a 4.2-inch diagonal driver information center. This unit will be offered as standard on the Z71 trim level. Besides that, we can expect a lot of Z71 badges and a slightly sportier cabin. So far, we don’t know specific interior details. However, Suburban SUV will continue to offer a room for 7,8 or 9 passengers.

Moreover, this model offers a lot of luxury, even in its base trim level. That includes power-adjustable seats, lockable storages, USB ports and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Interestingly, Suburban offers up to 14 different charging locations, and its center console is very large. As for the cargo area, 121.7 cubic feet of space is more than enough.

Possible Engine Options

As for the performance, nothing should change. Currently, Suburban offers two engine options, and the Z71 trim level will be no different. For a start, a 5.3-liter V8 comes as standard powertrain choice. This unit is capable of producing 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, it provides 22 mpg on the highway, and it can tow up to 8,300 lbs.

A 4WD setup is available, and Z71 will offer a standard Hill Descent Control system. If you want more power, you should go for the 6.2-liter V8 that is available on Suburban Premium models. This engine will be optional on the Z71 variant, and it generates 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of twists.

2021 Chevy Suburban Z71 Price and Release Date

We don’t know where the 2021 Chevy Suburban Z71 trim level will slot. The current model costs $52,000, and the LT trim is priced at $57,000. Suburban Premium starts at $66,000.

New Z71 trim level should be placed above the LT trim level, and the price of around $60,000 is fair, in our opinion. The all-new Suburban will hit the dealerships at some point in the second half of 2020.
