Spied 2021 Chevy Bolt EUV – Chevrolet’s Newest All-Electric Crossover

Recently, we had an opportunity to see a mysterious crossover on the spy shots. It appears the mysterious model is the upcoming 2021 Chevy Bolt EUV. As its name strongly suggest, it is an electric crossover based on the iconic Bolt car. EUV stands for “Electric Utility Vehicle” so the things are much clearer now.

The prototype has been heavily camouflaged, but the styling is very similar to the original Bolt model. Its driving range should be impressive, and the price will start below $40,000. Chevrolet will release its new model by the end of 2020.

New 2021 Chevy Bolt EUV will arrive as a subcompact crossover. It will be 164 inches long and 69.5 inches wide. Moreover, this crossover is 62.8 inches tall, and its wheelbase length is rated at 102.4 inches. A heavy camouflaged prototype didn’t reveal so much. However, the EUV variant wears the styling of the regular Bolt model. New GM’s BEV2 platform will underpin this model.

Thanks to that, Bolt EUV will be able to provide good mileage. The very same platform will serve to GM for some time as we expect new BEV3 architecture that will provide even better range. Whatsoever, the BEV3 platform will underpin one of the new Cadillac’s crossover.

Interior Gets Better Comfort

We can expect a couple of big upgrades inside the cabin. The forthcoming 2021 Chevy Bolt EUV will get a higher level of comfort than its hatchback brother. Here’s the thing. One of the main issues inside the Bolt hatch is its uncomfortable seats, especially the front two seats. For that reason, Chevrolet will provide new seats with the new standard and optional upholstery.

In that way, a seating issue will be gone. Additionally, a manufacturer could opt for a complete interior revamp. Indeed, current Bolt is outdated in terms of interior design, so new crossover will surely gain much-needed upgrades.

Driving Range, Power, Charging

The all-new 2021 Chevy Bolt EUV will get a larger battery than the original hatchback version. Chevrolet will increase the battery pack capacity to 66 kWh. Thanks to that, the driving range will be rated at 260 miles. Remember, once Chevy introduces the new BEV3 platform, Bolt EUV will surely provide over 300 miles. That should happen later in 2021, according to numerous reports.

A lithium-ion battery pack weighs 947 lbs, and it comes with an 8 years/100,000 miles warranty.  As for the performances, Bolt EUV will use a single motor system that will produce around 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. We are still waiting for charging details, but new reports are saying around 90 miles in 30 minutes on a DC fast charger.
