Knowing that GM will continue to roll in the same manner with minor updates. Surely, Cadillac XT5 will get a couple of visual upgrades.
On top of that, interior will get more tech and more quality materials. Under the hood, things will largely remain. Thanks to the numerous trim levels, you can customize this crossover in various ways. Still, 2021 XT5 will arrive as the first-generation model with a small number of updates.
2021 Cadillac XT5 Exterior
XT5 crossover is known for its elegant design with sharp edges and stylish cues. Most of the manufacturers are offering more or less the same appearance. The 2021 Cadillac XT5 is something different. It looks so unique and luxurious. However, the 2021 model will get a small exterior revision.
Based on the Escala concept, XT5 will slot between the XT4 and XT6 models. It offers jeweled headlights and premium 18-inch wheels. 20-inch rims are optional and are looking superb. The new model will get slightly larger headlights and reshaped taillights. The side profile will largely remain. As we already wrote, new-gen XT5 will arrive in 2023. Until then, GM will continue with mid-cycle refreshments.
Cabin Design and Technology
We don’t know much about the interior of the all-new 2021 Cadillac XT5. Our sources are predicting only a couple of technology updates. Knowing that XT5 will get more safety and probably new driver-assistance features. On the other hand, the mid-size SUV already offers a serious amount of safety aids. Moreover, XT5 comes with a new self-driving system. Unfortunately, or not, this system is made exclusively for the highways. You can find the same system in the CT6 sedan.
GM confirmed that the rest of the company’s lineup will get the same system. As for the interior design, Cadillac offers a really impressive interior. Everything from the inside looks so modern and stylish. Beautiful finishes are visible at first glance, along with the nice chrome trims. No doubt, interior looks very premium. The second row offers ample legroom and comfort is guaranteed. The infotainment system is updated and GM could introduce new interior color schemes.
Until the second-gen model arrives, XT5 crossover will continue to ride on its 3.6-liter V6. This engine produces 310 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, it offers a standard front-wheel-drive setup and an 8-speed automatic gearbox. An all-wheel-drive system is optional.
Speaking of optional, a 2.0-liter turbo-four unit is available as well. It uses the same transmission as the standard powertrain option. However, this output is rated at 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Smaller and optional engine will offer a significantly better fuel economy.
2021 Cadillac XT5 Price and Release Date
The forthcoming 2021 Cadillac XT5 will arrive at the same starting price as the current model. That means you can buy this mid-size SUV for $41,500. Higher trim levels are truly premium and range-topping trim costs over $70,000. XT5 will go on sale in the second half of 2020. Acura MDX and Audi Q5 models will continue competing with the new Cadillac XT5.
