2021 Byton M-Byte: All-Electric SUV Coming to the U.S

We just can’t stop writing about all-electric SUVs. A new model that will dazzle the world, or at least Asia, is the upcoming 2021 Byton M-Byte. What the hell is that you ask?! It is an all-electric model created by Byton, a Hong Kong-based manufacturer. Its M-Byte will provide at least a 225-mile range, and it will cost around $45,000. More importantly, Byton will sell its new model in the United States as soon as 2021.

Another impressive fact about this model is its 48-inch touchscreen. Yes, you read that well, 48-inches. So far, we saw the prototype at CES in Las Vegas. As for the performance figures, we have to trust what Byton promised, simple as that. Let’s find out what is a brand-new M-Byte SUV.

2021 M-Byte Exterior Looks Conventional

At first look, new 2021 Byton M-Byte looks traditional rather than futuristic. We like the windows that are stretching into the rear pillar. A similar cue can be found on Nissan’s new models. The overall appearance is, however, closer to the Mazda CX-5 or Lincoln Corsair. On the other hand, you can find a couple of unusual cues.

That includes the so-called “light signature,” a thin crosser bars of LED lights. Those bars are sitting on the front and rear fascia. Thanks to that, M-Byte glows, and it shows charging status. A simple way to see if your car is ready to go.

Interior Includes Large Touchscreen

Once you step inside the all-new 2021 Byton M-Byte, you will know its M-Byte thanks to its super-huge display. A 48-inch touchscreen is the highlight of this SUV. It makes up the entire top of the dash, and it displays everything from the movies, weather, sports scores and even conference calls. However, movies and calls are available only when the SUV is parked.

Basically, you can control everything via the 48-inch display, and the infotainment system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interior looks conventional, but once the LED lights shine and the big screen turns up, M-Byte gets a more futuristic appearance.

Range, Charging, Performance

As in any other electric vehicle, the 2021 Byton M-Byte also offers a variety of motors and powertrains. That includes a 72-kWh battery with the rear-wheel-drive system. Of course, you can go with the optional 95-kWh battery that utilizes two electric motors and an all-wheel-drive setup. The estimated range varies from 224 miles to 285 miles.

However, according to Byton, the range is calculated by the European standard that are usually slightly lower. The M-Byte takes 35 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 percent via DC fast-charger. Byton will team up with the Electrify America that will provide access to its charging network. This collaboration includes a limited amount of chargers at no cost.
