Spied 2021 Audi Q5 Shows Mid-Cycle Refreshments

New 2021 Audi Q5 has been spied once again. And just like the previous time, the same camouflage perfectly covers the front fascia, side skirts, and rear parts. However, some changes are visible at first glance. Some cues are borrowed from the larger Q7 model which is an interesting move from the German automaker.

On the other hand, this modern crossover will host numerous but minor modifications. Whatsoever, we don’t expect anything significant to happen in 2021. Interestingly, the Q5 model is present for over a decade and the last time we’ve seen significant changes was in 2018. No one knows when the new-gen model will kick in but 2021 Q5 is undoubtedly not the next-gen vehicle.

2021 Q5 Spy Shots

New Audi’s model wears the very same camouflage as on the previous spy photos. The 2021 Audi Q5 will host a couple of upgrades, but all of them are minor. Despite the heavy camouflage, most of the changes are more than visible. The most significant change will happen on the front fascia. New Q5 will borrow a prominent grille from the larger Q7 model.

On top of that, the headlights are featuring a new design, and metal strake runs through them. The rear part comes with the restyled flanks and reshaped LED taillights. Finally, this crossover will introduce the updated rear bumper and the exhaust. It seems like the Audi opted for another mid-cycle refresh.

Interior Refreshments

A new batch of spy shots didn’t show the interior upgrades. However, earlier spy photos of the 2021 Audi Q5 did provide essential refreshments on the inside. The interior will also host a couple of modest updates. For a start, the touchscreen mounted in the dash will be 10.1 inches unit. On top of that, the German manufacturer will update the MMI infotainment system.

Furthermore, new interior color schemes will be available on upper trim levels. Speaking of which, Audi will most likely deliver further updates on its range-topping trim level. Still, the base model offers more than enough luxury while the mid-trim comes with wireless phone charging and heated front seats.

The Engine is a Carryover

To this date, there is no word on any engine changes. The 2021 Audi Q5 should arrive with the same four-cylinder engine. After all, we are dealing with mid-cycle updates and not the new-gen model. For that reason, the same 2.0-liter is available, and it delivers 248 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

On top of that, Q5 is the front-wheel-drive vehicle. However, Audi’s Quattro AWD system is optional, and it is also recently updated. This crossover will need 6.2 seconds to sprint from 0 to 60 mph mark, which is slower than most of its rivals. On the other hand, we still hope for Audi to deliver a plug-in hybrid version, but this is just a rumor for now.

2021 Audi Q5 Price and Release Date

If the reports are correct, the next 2021 Audi Q5 won’t arrive before the summer next year. That means we can expect a new crossover to hit the markets in the second half of 2020. Q5 will start at $43,000, while the upper trim levels will cost over $50,000. New Audi Q5 will compete against BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.
