Winter is coming and it will bring many new models on the horizon. The redesigned 2020 Mazda CX-5 will be released at the end of this year with some minor exterior and interior refreshments. Besides exterior and interior refreshments, the upcoming Mazda CX-5 will also get a new Diesel engine as well. This model will consist of the 2.2-liter engine that delivers 170 horses and 290 lb-ft of torque.

The new 2020 Mazda CX-5 looks awesome. The manufacturer will continue to deploy the well-known KODO design language. However, the new model will get some refreshments. The front will be the most attractive part of this SUV thanks to the grille that is gained more chrome accents and the headlights that use the latest LED technology. Sides will be adorned with 17-inch alloy wheel, while the rear end deploys slightly smaller taillights.

Dimensionally, the new 2020 Mazda CX-5 sits between CX-7 and CX3 models. Also, if we compare the CX-5 model with the CX-9, both models share the same styling. Mazda CX-5 will arrive in three trim levels Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. The Grand Touring is most equipped and most expensive trim.

The upcoming 2020 Mazda CX-5 will be available with few engine options. As before the first one that is standard is a 2.5-liter engine. This engine produces 187 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 186 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm (4,000 rpm for AWD models). After five years, the manufacturer will finally give this SUV a diesel engine. Under the hood of this model is lying a 2.2-liter engine that delivers 170 horses and 290 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be only available for the buyers in the U.S.

The third one and the last engine is the same one that powers models like Mazda 6 and Mazda CX-9 models. This engine is consist of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo drivetrain that is able to produce up to 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of twists with the 93-octane premium gasoline. However, with the regular one, it produces 227 HP. This engine will be only available with the Signature trim. All engines above will use the same 6-speed automatic transmission.

Price and Release Date

The all-new 2020 Mazda CX-5 will see some changes and updates that will slightly increase the price. So, the new CX-5 will cost around $26,500 for the base model.

Touring model that comes with more features will starts at $28,000, while the most equipped Grand Touring model cost $34,000. With the prices above, 2020 Mazda CX-5 is in line with models like Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Hyundai Tucson. According to the latest info, the new compact crossover will debut in the last quarter of this year.
